What Is the Data Transfer Process Like?
Intake
When devices are brought in for a data transfer, we will ask you questions about what you would like to have moved, especially any programs you need on the new computer, or if you only want files to be moved.

Data Backup
The first thing we do is a complete backup your old computer and its data. We work off this backup so that, if anything goes awry, we can return to your old computer and start over. Also, this means your old computer should remain exactly how it was brought in. We can return to it for reference if a setting is different on the new computer, or a file isn't where you expect it to be. That's rare, but we like to cover all our bases. Data cannot be replaced!

Transfer to the New Computer
A comprehensive transfer moves the whole "kit 'n kaboodle" to the new computer. If we're going from one version of Windows to another, we'll have to upgrade your "kit 'n kaboodle" once it's on the new computer. If we're just moving files, we setup the new computer and transfer files last.​

Cleanup
For a comprehensive data transfer to run smoothly, there will be conflicting software and drivers that need to be uninstalled. We'll make sure the new computer is running at peak performance!

Duration & Updates
The time it takes to complete a data transfer varies widely by what is being moved, the speed and age of your old computer, and if there are any unexpected hardware conflicts between the two devices. Usually the process can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple days. If time is an issue, we have a couple work arounds to reduce your time without a computer as much as possible. Regardless, we will call you with any updates we have. Please make sure our number is not being blocked in your phone: 208-765-8324. What if...?
Should you feel anything is missing, if a program isn't working, if a setting is different, please don't hesitate to contact us. Some kinks are more routine than others (printers!). Regardless of the hang-up, we warranty all of our work, and will bend over backwards to make your new computer transition as painless as possible.
